WA: Hostage released by gunman

A gunman who killed a 21-year-old woman and took a couple hostage in a home invasionin Perth has released a woman whose car he hijacked.

Police say the 18-year-old woman, who was taken hostage in her vehicle at Secret Harbourin Perth's southern fringe, was released in the Perth suburb Thornlie about 10am (WST).

There's no information on the woman's condition.

The gunman, who police say is armed and extremely dangerous, has now stolen a 1989white Toyota Tarago van, with registration plates 7XL-600, from Thornlie.

Late last night a 21-year-old woman was found shot at a house in Armistice Way, Warnbro,and died after being taken to Rockingham Hospital.

Police say several hours later the gunman burst into another home in Warnbro and helda man and woman hostage for three hours with a sawn-off shotgun.

He fled in a car driven by an accomplice, who was later captured by police.

Shortly before 8am (WST) today, the man hijacked the 18-year-old woman's car.

People have been urged not to approach the man, who is described as aged about 30,with cropped hair and a goatee and tattoos on both arms.
