Diebold, NCR Heed The Call To Go East.

The epicenter of ATM production in Europe has taken a giant step east.

Leading ATM manufacturers NCR Corp. and Diebold Inc. last year opened plants in Budapest, Hungary, to take advantage of the growing market in Eastern Europe. At the same time, the two U.S. companies cut production in the heavily saturated western European market-Diebold in France and NCR in Scotland.

Diebold and NCR made their moves to Hungary to reduce manufacturing costs and to better cater to new markets in the region, including Russia. Both companies say the moves are part of an overall global strategy aimed at bringing efficiencies to their operations.
